“In summer 1946, Marcel Duchamp spent five weeks in Switzerland, including five days at the hotel Bellevue (today, le baron Tavernier) near Chexbres, on lake Geneva. there he discovered the forestay waterfall. no research was ever done as to why the artist chose this waterfall and not another to become the starting point for and ultimately the landscape of his famous final masterpiece, étant donnés: 1° la chute d’eau, 2° le gaz d’éclairage. a multidisciplinary event in cully, on lake Geneva, near the forestay waterfall, attempted to provide answers to this and many other questions about Duchamp’s work.”

Die Edition ist eine der ersten Fotografien, die Stefan Banz vom Wasserfall Le Forestay machte. Seine Forschungen diesem Wasserfall waren vollkommen neu für den Duchamp-Kontext, und erst seit seinen Recherchen weiss, dass der Wasserfall in Étant donnés tatsächlich der Wasserfall Le Forestay ist.

Certaines sensations sont plus complexes à décrire que d’autres, par exemple le contact avec une goutte de jus d’un agrume déposé sur la langue. Le quartier plus ou moins sphérique ou cylindrique d’un pamplemousse, dont le pH est de 2,5, stimule donc des récepteurs gustatifs de notre langue. Cette relation entre la langue, la salive ainsi que l’acidité du fruit provoque une contorsion des traits du visage et un «Twist» de la langue. Le sourcil partiellement arqué selon sa pilosité, sa génétique mais aussi en vertu de la mode du moment est certainement la zone la plus touchée par la grimace. Il se transforme en voûte surmontée (terme architectural), et sa pilosité semble se densifier vers le centre. Souvent confondu avec l’hybride Citrus paradisi, le/la pamplemousse est une sorte de fruits particulière. Si l’on peut affirmer que c’est un fruit volumineux et piriforme, une ambiguïté subside cependant quant à son identité sexuelle; considéré comme la pamplemousse au 19e siècle, il se transforme en le pamplemousse au 20e siècle sous l’impulsion de certains botanistes. Gewisse Sinneseindrücke sind schwieriger zu beschreiben als andere, zum Beispiel der Kontakt mit dem Saft einer Zitrusfrucht, welcher auf die Zunge geträufelt wird. Die mehr oder weniger kuglige oder zylindrische Scheibe einer Grapefruit setzt hat pH-Wert von 2,5 und regt daher besondere Rezeptoren unserer Zunge an. Diese Beziehung zwischen Zunge, Speichel und Fruchtsäure löst eine Verzerrung der Gesichtszüge und einen «Twist» der Zunge aus. Die Augenbraue, je nach Behaarung, genetischer Veranlagung oder Mode etwas hochgezogen, ist sicherlich der Bereich, der am stärksten vom verzerrten Gesichtsausdruck betroffen ist. Sie verwandelt sich in ein Spitzgewölbe (ein architektonischer Begriff), und ihre Behaarung scheint sich zur Mitte hin zu verdichten.Obwohl sie regelmässig mit dem Hybriden Citrus paradisi verwechselt wird, ist die Pampelmuse eine Fruchtart für sich. Auch herrscht zwar Einigkeit darüber, dass es sich um ein voluminöses und birnenförmiges Obst handelt, doch ist seine Geschlechtszugehörigkeit zweideutig. Im 19. Jahrhundert auf Französisch als «la pamplemousse», als die Pampelmuse bezeichnet, wird sie auf Betreiben gewisser Botaniker im 20. Jahrhundert zu «le pamplemousse»
